It looks like we will be close to $25,000 in donations! We will be sending a check to The Ohio State University Cancer Research Center to be exclusively overseen by Dr Rob Baiocchi. Ohio is now one of the LEADING cancer research centers for Hematologic cancers in the United States! Funding has been dramitically decreased in the past few years and Dr Rob is thrilled to have private grass roots organizations such as Friends of Jason Gould Inc helping to fund and support his research lab.
Dr Rob attended Jason's Hogfan Party once again and showed a slide presentation featuring survivor Dr Trent Tipple of Indiana who is one of the lymphoma survivors that is alive today because of a new cancer treatment that was developed by Dr Rob and his team. Dr Tipple had the same virus that Jason died from but the new treatment worked and is now a recognized treatment for this type of viral caused lymphoma. They needed some extra money to complete this work and used donations from Jason's Hogfan Party to do that! We are now officially part of the research team and are noted in the cancer journals as helping to subsidize Dr Robs work!! So we are truly helping to bring about cures and saving lives!
It was Jason's dream to help others survive and his dream is now a reality. In addition, Dr Rob has now helped many people with other types of cancer to find treatment and referrals in the Chicago area. One of those people was Frank Smith who spoke to the crowd and thanked Dr Rob and Jason Gould for being able to get into a top pulmonary oncologist in Chicago in just days after a recent diagnosis of lung cancer.
So our fundraising effort has reached
a whole new level this year!
I know that many of you have donated to Dr Rob's research this year and/or in the past and we are all grateful to you for opening up your heart and your pocketbook to support this brilliant and committed scientist/physician. You may have donated an item for our silent auction/raffles and we thank you for your support and generosity.
If you have not yet made a donation, please consider doing so as we will be sending a check to Dr Rob in the next few weeks. If leukemia or lymphoma are not diseases that you might necessarily support, please know you are also now supporting the other cancer patients with other types of cancer that we have now helped not to mention the total commitment of all the volunteers that work tirelessly to make this all happen!
